Get started – Introduction & Pitch

Start your introduction to the project

How do I start a test of an idea, prototype or final concept/launch?

First decide, if your input and feedback is related to an idea, a concept or a prototype. The process is more or less the same, but the questions and tasks will be more specific, if it is a concept or a prototype.

The introduction and pitch contain 3 elements:

  • An introduction to your problem/idea you want feedback and input to. You either do this by video or by a written introduction (see below). An introduction is a short explanation of the problem you experience & the solution/idea you want to test or get input to

  • The pitch should contain an explanation the value you assume your idea/problem gives to the user or customer. This is the success criteria and value proposition, you want to test & get input to

  • An explanation of the expectations to the users – what are the focus areas, you need input to & how should they do it ? This is the task you would like them to do.

You can either choose to upload this by video or textual desciption and visual sketching

Introduce the company and the problem

Introduction to the problem/idea.

This is a description of the problem, you experience & your assumption to, how you can solve it.

By example give an introduction to the problem:

  • We are a global development company of components for the Utility business. We support the distribution of water and energy.

  • We we experience the private house owners are not paying attention to their private consumption of energy and water.

  • It affects the economy of the houseowners and it impact the amount of consumption and thereby the environment.

  • To solve this problem, we want to deliver a new app, which can measure and visualize the consumption for the private household. The app will contain an overview of the private house’s consumption of energy use, water quality etc.

Pitch the value of your project

What contains a pitch & how do you express the value you create?

  • The second part of the introduction is the pitch. It is more like selling your idea or task. Here you need to include, what value you prosume your idea/solution offer the customer or user. This is also the success criteria and value proposition, your final results of the research will be measured against.

  • What is a value proposition? A value proposition is the value, you aim to offer your future customer with the new solution, product or service.

  • A value proposition serves to solve the needs of the customer and user and give a benefit to her/him with the new product or solution. It is NOT a feature.

See example here:

The new app/solution for private houseowners will deliver the following value:

  • Economic savings on energy and water consumption - due to a simple overview of consumption

  • Awareness of which times, will be the best for saving and using water due to an overviewof peaktimes

  • Improvement of your habits and daily use of energy & water by counselling and advicing

Introduce your expectations & task

What should a desciption of the task include?

  • The description of the task, is your expectations to the user & what your want input to,

  • It will be different, either if it is an idea phase or a concept or a final launch.

  • In the idea phase, you will mainly have some assumptions of, what makes value for the customer, and what you need from the user will mainlly input to the concept and questions. Either filled out by questionaires, input about their day or by video input.

  • In the concept and prototype case, you will have a more concrete task and test task for the user. Mainly containing questions and try out of the demo/feedback of the design, interface/app etc.

  • In the launch phase you will have more specific questions, but you can also choose to ask the users to give video input or simply answer questionaires

Examples of a task

What should a desciption of the task include ?

Task examples of the Idea phase:

The purpose of this task is to test the value proposition of our future customers and users.

We would like to get your input to the idea of the product and solution. The value proposition we would like you to test is:

According to our example it could be:

  • Economic savings on energy and water consumption - due to a simple overview of consumption

  • Awareness of which times, will be the best for saving and using water due to an overview of peaktimes

  • Improvement of your habits and daily use of energy & water by counselling and advicing

We would like you to give feedback to 3 areas of focus by answering the questions and give input to comments by video or text.

  • The idea & value proposition of the product and solution

  • Please describe the challenges you meet in your daily ljoba/life related to your work with energy solutions

  • Please describe what is important for you in relation to comfort in your house

  • The content & proposals for product & solution

  • How do you experience the product and concepts can solve your daily challenges?

  • If not – please come with new ideas/input
